Our Mission
Australian Wildlife Encounters aims to educate people to live and work around our native fauna. We provide exciting and informative 'Hands on' experiences for people of all ages in order to promote the conservation of Australia's unique wildlife. We extend this by running accredited courses for the workplace that specialise in safe human-wildlife interaction.
Our Team have been dealing with all sorts of wildlife on a professional level for over 10 years. We combine Passion with Expert Knowledge to ensure that - when we come to you - you receive the best information and walk away with a whole new appreciation of Australia's Wildlife!
Australian Wildlife Encounters run fully accredited Wildlife Adventure Tours. These tours are aimed at Naturalists, Wildlife/Landscape Photographers as well as anyone that is interested in really experiencing the absolute best that our beautiful country has to offer. The aim of these tours is to really educate the public on the plight of some of our native fauna and their habitat today, we hope that our guests will leave their chosen tour with a greater understanding and appreciation of our unique wildlife and the wild places in which they live!

LOCKIE GILDING
DIRECTOR / CO-FOUNDER
Lockie started his career with wildlife at the ripe age of 15 where he secured a internship with a large Zoological Facility in Southern Queensland. Lockie has since gathered experience in several facilities aswell as spending several years working as a field ecologist, conducting Fauna Surveys and habitat assessments. Despite this, Lockie’s main passion is for Wildlife Photography, Lockie has been travelling the world photographing wildlife since he was 16 years old. In 2015 Lockie decided to make his passion a career when he co-founded Australian Wildlife Encounters with fellow Wildlife Photographer and good friend Max Jackson.

MAX JACKSON
DIRECTOR / CO-FOUNDER
Max’s passion for wildlife and conservation has seen him work in several Zoological and conservation facilities throughout Australia. Max has also spent several years gaining experience in the field working as a field Ecologist. Max’s main passion has always been for Wildlife Photography and thus he has been travelling the world Photographing rare wildlife for the last 10 years. Max co-founded Australian Wildlife Encounters in 2015.

Matthijs Hollanders
Tour Guide / Oman Specialist
Matt’s fascination with the natural world led him to study biology and conservation, with his research bringing him from Europe to Ecuador and most recently Australia, where he is now a PhD candidate studying the effect of disease on endangered frogs. Though his interest in photography started in the darkroom, the past decade he focused almost exclusively on digital photography of wildlife and landscapes. Matt has been looking for wildlife in a range of environments, from the deserts of the Middle East and North America to the jungles of the neotropics and Australia.

Tour Vehicles
Australian Wildlife Encounter runs its Wildlife Adventure Tours by use of 2 late Model Toyota Landcruiser Prados. These luxury 4x4's are extremely comfortable and very capable when we need to leave the beaten track. Passenger numbers are restricted to 3 guest per vehicle so as to assure everyone has plenty of room, especially on our longer tours!
